Shifting gears to Wise Squirrels.
BIG NEWS!
“You would never talk to your best friend like you talk to yourself. You can learn to talk to yourself like you do your best friend. Making your mind much more of your friend. Wisdom is about making your mind your friend.” Sam Harris.
Hi Nice Maker,
My family and I have shifted into full holiday mode now that Thanksgiving in the US (and Canada) is over. With the help of treating my ADHD this year, I’ve determined that my focus needs to be on one main thing instead of so many things. Most days, I find myself splitting my time between the following:
Futureforth (my core business).
Nice Method keynote presentations and workshops.
Wise Squirrels (my podcast).
Nice Maker (newsletter and events).
Writing my next book, The Root Down.
Journaling and planning.
Walking Peggy and hiking.
Spending time with my family and friends.
ADHD causes us to become hyperfocused on what we are most interested in, usually creative and entrepreneurial endeavors. This is great because we contribute positive things to the world, but it can also challenge us because we can quickly lose track of paramount projects, and our time goes by in a flash, thanks to time blindness.
I’ve realized that some things must be paused while I shift gears and focus on the most important project: Wise Squirrels. With undiagnosed and untreated ADHD, life expectancy can be up to thirteen years less.
My passion has become my mission to help spread the word and remove related stigmas by building Wise Squirrels into a business that will allow me to continue to support others with our in-person retreat, keynote presentation, coaching, meet-ups, podcast, and more I have planned.
I’ve hit some significant podcast milestones this year, like being one of the top ADHD podcasts for adults. Check out these numbers:
Year-to-date total downloads: 55,000+
Year-to-date total monthly downloads: 5,000.
Top 5 episodes total downloads (Last 30 Days):
5,792. Average downloads per episode: 1,158.
Top 5 episodes total downloads (Last 60 Days):
8,641. Average downloads per episode: 1,728.
Average play of the last five episodes: 2,563 per episode.
I’m not giving up on the other things, but I will spend most of my time on Wise Squirrels over the next few months. I invite you to join the journey regardless of your neurotype; I promise there will be great value for all.
I hope you will by signing up for the new Substack, or perhaps you already are. ;)
Happy Holidays.
Be nice.
Dave.
